Alan M. Levine, M.D., director of the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute for Sinai Hospital and Northwest Hospital Center and an internationally known orthopedic surgical oncologist suddenly passed away October 25, 2009. Dr Levine founded the Alvin & Lois Lapidus Cancer Institute and has been instrumental in our growth and success. "Alan's death is a shock and a huge loss. He was an extraordinary figure with a bigger-than-life personality. He had an enormous talent for doing a lot of things well." said Warren A. Green, president and chief executive officer of LifeBridge Health. Through his leadership and tireless efforts the Cancer Institute has become a center of excellence in the treatment of cancer in Baltimore and beyond. Dr Levine was a strong and positive force, and leaves behind a lasting impression on all of us.
