The care of women with a diagnosis of a malignancy of the female genital tract encompasses a unique combination of issues related to surgical resection, medical therapy and radiation therapy, as well as surgical reconstruction and emotional and psychological support. Each of these issues is carefully considered to optimally treat such patients with the intent of accomplishing long-term survival and quality of life.
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at the Sinai Hospital of Baltimore and Northwest Hospital offer state-of-the-art medical and surgical therapies, an array of innovative clinical trials, the ability to delve into basic research to continue to improve clinical outcomes and the drive to educate residents and fellows in the appropriate management of patients with complex gynecologic oncology issues.
The Division of Gynecologic Oncology is headed by Fouad M. Abbas, M.D. Dr. Abbas has a large practice with additional offices in Riverside, Columbia, Easton and Frederick.
In addition to the full-time gynecologic oncologist, the division has a caring nursing, social service and psychology staff. They have strong relationships with other medical and radiation oncologists in the area. They have made an art of delivering quality treatment to gynecologic cancer patients throughout the state of Maryland by being available to patients in a multitude of outlying areas.
